Austalian Government Budget 2017-18

The Government delivered the 2017-18 Federal Budget on 9 May 2017.

Budget announcements for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet includes support for Indigenous jobs and business sector, implementation of the Indigenous Business Sector Strategy and improving the model of remote employment and participation Community Development Programme; the establishment of the Infrastructure and Project Financing Agency (IPFA) and providing opportunities and support for Australian women including the expansion of ParentsNext and additional investment in community legal centres.

The Department received funding for a number of government priorities including:

  • Business Support for Indigenous Entrepreneurs — $146.9 million will be redirected from Indigenous Business Australia to supportIndigenous businesses and entrepreneurs
  • ASEAN-Australia Leaders’ Summit — $37.7 million to support the organisation and logistics of the Association of South East Asian Nations - Australia Leaders’ Summit in 2018
  • National Cities Agenda — $23.5 million to expand the capacity of the department to support the delivery of the National Cities Agenda
