The Research Support for National Security program supports science and innovation aimed at enhancing Australia’s national security capabilities. Co-funding is provided to competitively-selected projects led by private sector organisations, universities, research networks or government agencies.

The National Security Science and Technology Branch manages the program and works closely with national security agencies on the selection and management of projects including through independent expert panels for the assessment of applications.

The program was established as the Research Support for Counter-Terrorism program in 2004 and broadened to the Research Support for National Security program in 2009. Details of the projects supported through the program are available at the Department’s Grant Announcement page.

2009-10 Call for Applications

Outcomes from the call are currently being finalised and will be published on this page in the near future.

Following the completion of the 2009-10 call for applications, new applications for funding are not currently being accepted.  However, any future opportunities for support through the program will be advertised on this page.
