Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet

The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet has teamed up with Data61 to provide an exciting opportunity to APS staff to develop their data-related skills.

Applications are now open to be part of the second round of the Data Fellowship program, an initiative under the Australian Government’s APS Data Skills and Capability Framework.

The Data Fellowship program is a competitive program designed to provide advanced data training to high-performing APS data specialists. Up to ten candidates each year will be selected to undertake three month research or engineering placements in Data61 or their partner organisations.

This is the second round of applications for the Data Fellowship program. Some of the projects from the first round include: developing a new indicator for household consumption that provides a real-time read on household spending using econometric and data analytics techniques; and using machine-learning techniques to forecast real GDP growth in Australia.

The program is open to all staff within the APS. If you are interested, please complete the Data Fellowship Application Form by 5 pm (AEST) Friday 20 January 2017. We will notify successful applicants by 20 February 2017.

Please email datapolicy@pmc.gov.au if you have any enquiries about the Data Fellowship program.
