On Wednesday 8 March, the International Women’s Day Address was held at the National Press Club in Canberra, chaired by journalist Emma Macdonald from Women in Media.

Founder and Director of the Kakenya Centre for Excellence, Dr Kakenya Ntaiya, a Maasai woman, delivered a profoundly stirring account of how her brave actions as a child over 20 years ago have changed the lives of hundreds of Kenyan girls, exposing them to brighter futures through access to education.

Those in attendance joined the millions worldwide who have been inspired by Kakenya’s story and no doubt, left a little more determined to advocate for gender equality in their own circles.

Video of the event is available on the ABC website.
