Statement by the Secretary - Intelligence Policy
STATEMENT BY THE SECRETARY,
DEPARTMENT OF THE PRIME MINISTER AND CABINET
Reports in the Fairfax media this morning (The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age) entitled “Secret plan gives spies huge boost in powers” and “Secret plan to boost spying” are inaccurate. There is no review currently under way addressing any of the specific proposals referred to in the articles. The intelligence community is, from time to time, subject to review. The last such review was the Inquiry into Australian Intelligence Agencies in 2004 (the Flood Inquiry).
