Native title representative bodies and service providers

Native title recognises the traditional rights and interests to land and waters of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) (the Act), native title claimants can make an application to the Federal Court to have their native title recognised by Australian law.

There is a network of native title representative bodies (NTRBs) and native title service providers (NTSPs) to assist native title claimants and holders. PM&C funds 14 NTRBs-SPs. The Torres Strait Regional Authority is also an NTRB and funds native title activities out of its own appropriation.

A map of NTRBs and NTSPs around Australia, prepared by the National Native Title Tribunal, is available on their website.

If you have a query about to native title in a particular region, please contact the NTRB-SP in that region.
