Statutory review of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013

On 15 July 2016 Mr Philip Moss AM delivered the report of the independent statutory Review of the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2013 to the Minister assisting the Prime Minister for the Public Service, Senator the Hon. Michaelia Cash. As required by the Act, the Report was tabled in the Parliament on 20 October 2016. The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet will work with other agencies to prepare advice for the Government on options for responding to the Report’s recommendations.

The Public Interest Disclosure Act establishes a framework to facilitate the disclosure and investigation of wrongdoing and maladministration in the Commonwealth public sector. The Act requires that a Review occurs after the Act has been in operation for 2 years. The Review commenced on 15 January 2016 and concluded on 15 July 2016.  Submissions and the Terms of Reference are available to view.
