Content concerning freedom of information policy formerly hosted on the department's website is now hosted on the Attorney-General's Department website.

Under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, members of the public can seek access to documents held by the department.

There is no fee for making a request but the Freedom of Information Act 1982 provides that charges may be imposed for processing requests.

Requests must provide enough information about the documents sought to enable the department to identify them.
