Mission
The department and the six agencies comprising the Prime Minister’s
portfolio share the following mission:
to achieve well coordinated, efficient and accountable public
administration, supported by a values based Australian Public
Service.

Portfolio agencies
Figure 1 lists the agencies which comprise the portfolio,
showing their planned outcomes and identifying their executive
officers.
An overview of the role and functions of the Department of
the Prime Minister and Cabinet is presented in the departmental
overview below. More detailed information about the activities
and responsibilities of the other portfolio agencies, which
are administered under the Financial Management and Accountability
Act 1997, may be obtained from each agency’s annual
report or website.
