Reporting Fraud
Fraud
Fraud impacts on the ability of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to undertake its primary role of providing advice to, and support for, the Prime Minister in her capacity as head of the government and the Cabinet.
Reporting Fraud
What is Fraud?
The department has adopted the Commonwealth Fraud Control Guidelines 2011 definition of fraud which is:
"Dishonestly obtaining a benefit, or causing a loss, by deception or other means".
The definition includes both tangible and intangible benefits.
The department is determined to ensure that when fraud occurs, it is rapidly detected, effectively investigated, prosecuted appropriately and the proceeds of the fraud recovered.
