Knight Vision Security first launched in Albany in 2009, but a family health crisis forced the company to suspend operations until 2010 when Frederick took the LBCC MicroBusiness program and got his first security client in Albany.
“Nothing can fully prepare you for the unexpected in business, but the class really helped me make sure I had all the pieces together and that I had a network to turn to as my business took off,” says Frederick. “My advisor, Scottie Jones, was always there for me, willing to answer questions and steer me to the right resources.”
Since that time Knight Vision Security has grown to 7 full time and 13 part time, on-call personnel with various specialties. Some are armed, in full compliance with state gun safety and handling laws. The company provides on-site security services for a major health insurance provider in Albany as well as contract services for OSU events, transportation of valuables and ATM repair security. They also provide body guards and security for celebrity events.
Frederick first got into the personal protection service in 1994 in New York. He started as a mall protection and security officer and moved up to manage the entire operation before starting his own security company. In 2001 he moved his family to Oregon. He still operates the New York office and is has started a field office in Florida as well.
